    Jason is a professional musician and educator living in Richmond, Va.  A saxophone instructor at the University of Richmond since 2007, he also teaches woodwinds for Richmond Music Center, and is Director of Bands for Richmond Academy k-12 school.

    Jason received a M.A. from New York University in Jazz Performance and Composition and B.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Music Education. While attending NYU, Jason was the recipient of Charles McGhee Scholarship for Musical Excellence and the Barney Josephson Award for Outstanding Leadership in Jazz/Contemporary Music Studies. His ongoing education has included opportunities to study under world renowned musicians, including Jim McNeely, George Garzone, Ralph Lalama, Jon Gordon, Tony Moreno, Mike Richmond, Tony Malaby, Ed Freidrich, Doug Richards, Skip Gailes, Don Friedman, and Bob Halahan. 


    In his 16 years of experience, Jason has performed with a variety of nationally and internationally recognized artist such as Chris Potter, Dave Binney, Ken Vandermark, Devils Workshop, Dave Holland, Barry Harris, George Coleman, Jim McNeely, Hilton Ruiz, Christian McBride, Mulgrew Miller, Grady Tate, and Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Kings of Swing, Ed Palermo Big Band, Upper East Side Big Band, Fight the Big Bull, Steve Bernstein, David Karsten Daniels, and Karl Blau. 



    Jason performs regularly with internationally acclaimed and Richmond born, “Fight the Big Bull” as well as his own ensembles.
