Naima Burrs, M.M., is a violinist and conductor from Richmond, Virginia. Burrs studied at the University of Northern Iowa where she received a master of music degree in violin performance >while serving as a graduate assistant during her studies. She also holds a bachelor of arts degree in music (also in violin) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
Naima is a full time lecturer at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia and has also served as adjunct instructor of Violin at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia and Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia.
Burrs was appointed Music Director of the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra in January of 2022. Naima is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree (D.M.A.) in instrumental conducting at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
